It’s estimated that employees spend almost three hours per week arguing. Those arguments amount to $359 billion in hours that are focused on conflict instead of on productivity.

Marlene Chism, author of From Conflict to Courage, says conflict is not the real problem: mismanagement is. This course, back by popular demand, will help leaders learn how to recognize the signs of mismanagement as well as the behaviors that need to change to reduce conflict.

Join CWD Industry Expert, Marlene Chism, as she shares specific actions you can take to stop avoiding and start leading. This three-part course is designed to help leaders

  • Redefine conflict
  • Build conflict capacity
  • Understand how identity shapes behavior
  • Grow responsible employees

Session 1 – October 26, 2022
Why conflict is not the problem

Unresolved conflict is costly, and that’s why many leaders avoid conflict at all costs. But conflict is not the problem, mismanagement is.  In this 90-minute session participants will learn how to identify mismanagement, understand the three dysfunctional behaviors, and the three components necessary to build conflict capacity.

Session 2 – November 2, 2022

Building Leadership Identity

Why do new leaders struggle even if they were a high performer in their previous role? Leadership Identity. Leadership identity always shapes leadership behavior. In this 90-minute session Marlene uncovers the three dysfunctional identities that contribute to unnecessary conflict. You’ll also learn how your narrative affects your leadership, understand the role of culture, and map out five steps to building a new leadership identity.

Session 3 – November 9, 2022

Responsibility: The Recognition of Choice

One of the greatest powers you have as a leader is the power of choice, but you can’t make good choices if you don’t understand the distinction between decision and choice. You can’t make aligned choices if you don’t understand the balance between choice and responsibility. In this 90-minute session participants learn how to listen to language that indicates a lack of responsibility, why leaders need to model choice abundance, and how to stop advising and start coaching so that you grow responsible employees.
