June General Membership Meeting

Annual Pig Roast

The 35th annual Pig Roast is less than a month away! You do NOT want to miss it this year. There will be axe throwing for two hours and a band the last hour plus all of the great benefits you are used to having!

Message from the City of Springfield

SCA Members,

The City of Springfield has updated the current Specifications, Standards, and Drawing Details for July of 2019. Before the City publishes these, we would like SCA’s feedback on the proposed changes. The City will only be considering comments on the changes made to the 2017 Specifications at this time. After the 2019 Specs are published, we will reach out for requested considerations for changes by SCA and others beginning in Fall 2019.

Please provide comments to Megan Short via email no later than June 13th. Please provide your contact information so we may contact you with follow up questions.

The proposed changes are highlighted in the attached files for both the Design Standards and Specifications. Also, a summary of the changes are listed below. The changes are NOT highlighted on the Drawing Details attached. The log of the changes to the Drawing Details is attached.

Below is a summary of the Changes Made from the 2017 Versions:

Technical Specifications:

Chapters 1 and 2: Minor grammatical cleanup and deletion of redundant definitions.

Chapter 3: Minor grammatical cleanup and clarification of testing requirements of embankment.

Chapter 4: Major changes to lift station and pressurized pipe for sanitary sewers. Changes to the required type of PVC for sewer lines. Other minor grammatical cleanup and wording revisions.

Chapter 5: Minor grammatical and format changes. Cleanup of language in multiple locations for concrete finishing, curing, and placement requirements to single, referenced location.

Chapter 6: Minor grammatical and format changes. Cleanup of language in multiple locations for concrete finishing, curing, and placement requirements to single, referenced location.
Made wording changes for clarification to form removal language.

Chapter 7: Added Section 7.8 – Cold Milling Existing Pavement. Minor grammatical and format changes. Cleanup of language in multiple locations for concrete finishing, curing, and placement requirements to single, referenced location.

Chapter 8 and 9: Minor grammatical and format changes. Cleanup of language in multiple locations for concrete finishing, curing, and placement requirements to single, referenced location.

Chapter 10: Clarified requirements of ADA warning tiles. Minor grammatical and format changes. Cleanup of language in multiple locations for concrete finishing, curing, and placement requirements to single, referenced location.

Chapter 11 and 13: Minor grammatical changes

Chapter 14: Clarification and wording of measurement and payment sections. Addition or clarification of various materials. Cleanup of language in multiple locations for concrete finishing, curing, and placement requirements to single, referenced location.
