Member Spotlight

Ireland Architect, Inc.
21 Years in Business

Ireland Architects, Inc. was started by Stephanie D. Ireland out of the basement of her home in 1995 as a drafting company. When she passed her Architectural Licensing exam in 2000, she changed the company to an architectural firm.

When Stephanie was blazing her own path, she was told “she couldn’t, she shouldn’t, and she’ll never make it.” She learned that when someone makes those comments, they are making them based on their perspective – it did not have to be her perspective.

The architectural licensing pathway has changed quite a bit over the years. When Stephanie was starting out here, there wasn’t an accredited architectural school in Missouri (Drury wasn’t accredited at this time), so she took the “long path” to licensure. This meant 12 years of experience, of which her higher education would count toward, then she would be eligible to take a 12-section exam that was only offered twice a year (hand drawing with no computers) with all 12 sections taken at one time. In 2012, she went back to school to get an accredited Master of Architecture from Boston Architectural College the professors, were able to give meaningful, practical experiential direction and advice that helped Stephanie become a better architect, business owner and overall person. It was a long path but one she is very proud to have accomplished.

Ireland Architects, Inc. provides commercial architectural design services and was recently recognized as the Honorable Mention by Architecture MasterPrize for The Kitchen, Inc.’s homeless shelter design in 2021.

Ireland Architects attend General Membership Meetings and a variety of other events, but the SCA Christmas Party always holds a special place for Stephanie Ireland and her husband Ken Turner. The two were first introduced at the SCA Christmas Party in 1996 by Kathy Baer, who worked for SCA at the time. It has been history ever since!

Generation Next Membership Competition

In an effort to boost involvement and help owners and managers get their younger employees involved in the Generation Next group, Gen Next is going to pay the 2022 SCA membership fee for the company that gets the most new members to attend Gen Next monthly meetings in 2021.

Generation Next meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month either in the evening or over lunch. Anyone that is a member of the SCA and is under 40 years old can be a member of Generation Next for no additional cost. New members will be counted at each monthly meeting, and a yearend total will determine which SCA Member Company had the most new members for the year attend.

If you have employees that are under the age of 40 and want to get involved in Generation Next or you want to know more about the group, please contact Tim Potthoff at tim.potthoff@nabholz.com or Dana Haase at dana.haase@nabholz.com anytime.
