Felin Communications is a company that will fill skill and time gaps on teams so you can focus on your highest and best use of resources. They work with solopreneurs and large marketing teams alike. Most teams have something they don’t quite have the time or skills to do in house but can’t justify hiring an additional staff member. Felin Communications works primarily with business-to-business companies, but also serves business-to-consumer clients with highly unique or high net worth prospective customers. Felin Communications was formerly Hightide Communications a company of SBJ Publishing for 6 years and was acquired by Mar’Ellen Felin in 2021 from her employer. Felin is the owner and a marketing strategist, project manager, marketing talent wrangler, and copywriter. Felin’s mix of products and services include but are not limited to:
Branded apparel, copywriting, copy editing, content marketing, corporate gifts, geofencing and retargeting digital advertising, ghost writing and blogging, graphic design, media placement, printing, promotional products, public and media relations, social media management, tradeshow materials and displays, video content (interviewing, shooting, and editing) and web design.
In 2009 as the Vice President of Sales and Creative Services for Springfield Business Journal, Mar’Ellen noticed many companies had marketing hurdles they were struggling to overcome. Most often those hurdles weren’t from a lack of skills, but from a lack of time. Sole proprietors and over tapped marketing departments simply can’t get everything done. In 2016 the company started helping small and large businesses. Since then, the team has helped nearly one hundred clients with ongoing or one-time projects so they can focus on their highest and best use of resources.
They are proudest of the flexibility and adaptability they have to meet the individual needs of their clients. The clients they work with on a daily basis, have creative teams dedicated to them, ensuring the depth of knowledge and consistency they would expect of internal staff. For those clients Felin Communications serves as an extension of their team. Their other clients have one or two projects a year that require unique marketing skills. Mar’Ellen can assemble a team unique to that project in order to meet the client’s particular needs.
Mar’Ellen Felin is the incoming secretary for the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools Board. She is also involved with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council and Leadership Springfield Class 13 Alumni volunteer. Felin is a former Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree. She also served on the Salute to Construction committee for ten years.
Felin Communications provides discreet service to all their clients since what they do for their clients often requires confidentiality. They are frequently privy to legal, regulatory, and future strategic marketing concerns of their clients, so they make it a rule to never discuss client business unless necessary in order to complete their scope of work. Mar’Ellen created SpringfieldContractors.org, BuildTheOzarks.com and the soon-to-be-released new BuildMyFuture.net.
