Course Description: This training is approved by the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Service’s Lead Program and provides information on lead-based paint abatement and regulatory guidelines for individuals who conduct lead abatement work. Through hands-on training and lecture, students learn procedures for containment and decontamination systems, worker protection and safety, health effects of lead poisoning, history of lead exposure, waste disposal, clean-up tactics and clearance protocols. Abatement is any set of measures designed to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards. Abatement work that is not conducted by a certified Lead Supervisors and Lead Workers is subject to heavy fines by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the Sate of Missouri.
