Generation Next Meeting

The March Generation Next meeting will be held this Wednesday at the SCA Office. The meetings are held on the second Wednesday each month.

If you or someone you work with is under 40 years old and interested in learning more about Generation Next, please come to the meeting.

There is no extra cost for SCA members to join Generation Next. Generation Next is the under 40 group of the Springfield Contractors Association. They have monthly meetings and invite all SCA members to participate in social events and community service opportunities.

The registration deadline is Monday, April 6, at 10 a.m. Please note the change: Ticket prices will increase after the registration deadline because we need to turn in a headcount to the venue. Build My Future

There’s still room to be an exhibitor or a volunteer!

Over 3,400 students have registered, so make sure you are planning to participate in the fourth annual Build My Future construction showcase! Build My Future is now a 501(c)3 association.

Ways you can still get involved:

Exhibits – Indoor and outdoor space is available for exhibits at a $100 fee (waived for all sponsors). All exhibits must include a hands on activity for the students. We encourage everyone to think outside the box for activities that showcase your piece of the industry. Exhibit forms will be taken until all space is reserved. Reserve your spot by returning the 2020 Exhibitor Form.

Volunteer – Not sure you’re ready to be a sponsor or an exhibit? Come volunteer! You can volunteer at the SCA Exhibit or just as an event volunteer. There is a volunteer kick-off meeting the night before for general event volunteers. Contact Megan at megan@springfieldcontractors.org or 417-862-1313 if you are interested.

Scholarship Contribution – The SCA will be offering a scholarship opportunity for students who attend Build My Future again this year. The scholarship will be open to any high school senior in the area who enters a construction related program upon graduation.

The SCA started the scholarship with $1,000 but is also offering the opportunity for members to get involved at $250 each. Members who donate the $250 will have the opportunity to hand out cards with the online application link at the event and will be featured in all materials distributed to students regarding the scholarship.

If you are interested in joining the participating companies at $250 each, please contact Megan Short by the end of day on Friday, March 27th. Invoices will not be sent until after the scholarship deadline to ensure qualified scholarship applications are received.

If you are interested in assisting with reviewing scholarship applications, please contact Megan by the end of April.

Generation Next Bass Bash Fishing Tournament

Registration is now open for Generation Next’s 5th annual Bass Bash Fishing Tournament! Net proceeds from last year funded Generation Next’s general budget as well as the following donations: $2,000 SCA Scholarship Endowment, $500 MSU Construction Club, $1,000 Teen Anglers, and $1,000 Fish 4 Tales.

Membership Dues

Just a reminder, membership dues were mailed at the end of December to the primary contact listed for the SCA Directory along with a membership packet.

Dues can only be paid by check, in person with a credit card, in person with cash, or by phone with a credit card. Please ignore the spam emails about sending an EFT/ACH or online payment. They are NOT from the SCA.
Membership dues must be paid by the end of March to be included in the 2020 Membership Directories.
