Member Spotlight

Wildcat Materials, Inc
28 Years in Business

“I started my time here hauling drywall and stocking jobs on the truck and worked my way into the warehouse, then to purchasing and inventory, to now outside sales. I like being able to know all aspects of this company,” James Clary, SCA representative for Wildcat Materials, shares his experiences with the company.

“Being employed through our company since 2009, I am CPR Certified through the company and had to use my training on a worker here. Being able to spring into action like we did and help someone in need is what it is all about. Our quick thinking inspired other employees to take the steps to get CPR Certified and now we are working towards all employees having training.”

Named after the wildcat exploratory oil drilling process, Wildcat Materials joined the GMS family of companies in 1993. For 25 years, Wildcat Materials has provided high-quality building supplies to Missouri contractors, construction professionals, home builders, homeowners, and renovators. The team at Wildcat Materials serves residential and commercial construction customers from four Missouri building supply yards in: Joplin, Columbia, Linn Creek, and Springfield. Customer satisfaction, with a “safety-first” approach, is our priority at Wildcat Materials. We generally deliver within a ~150-mile radius of our yard locations, subject to traffic and other considerations.

Kemper Hall Renovation Donations

Unlike the spam requests over Memorial Day Weekend, this opportunity is real! Missouri State University is seeking donations for Kemper Hall. See below for more information.

Kemper Hall is the home of the Construction Management program. From classrooms to construction and computer labs, students pursuing a CM degree at Missouri State University spend countless hours learning and working in Kemper. Over the last decade, the program has worked to update the building through renovation projects including select classroom remodels and a computer laboratory overhaul. If you have not been to Kemper Hall in the last four years, you may not even recognize some of the spaces. However, the main entryway to the building has remained virtually unchanged since the building was built. This area is the space in which new and prospective students get their first impression of the program. It is also a key intersection and gathering point for occupants of the building. We are asking for your help in making this space match the developments and strengths of the CM program at Missouri State. We want to create a space where students are proud to call Kemper their “home”. The proposed project would renovate the east entryway to include the following:
• Larger and more modern awards display case
• Increased digital signage
• Better lighting and expanded electrical outlets for device charging
• Donor recognition wall
• Branding of space to better highlight the TCM department
• Improved seating and gathering space in the “sunken area” near the main stairs
Click here for more information or to make a donation.

Generation Next Membership Competition

In an effort to boost involvement and help owners and managers get their younger employees involved in the Generation Next group, Gen Next is going to pay the 2022 SCA membership fee for the company that gets the most new members to attend Gen Next monthly meetings in 2021.

Generation Next meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month either in the evening or over lunch. Anyone that is a member of the SCA and is under 40 years old can be a member of Generation Next for no additional cost. New members will be counted at each monthly meeting, and a yearend total will determine which SCA Member Company had the most new members for the year attend.

If you have employees that are under the age of 40 and want to get involved in Generation Next or you want to know more about the group, please contact Tim Potthoff at tim.potthoff@nabholz.com or Dana Haase at dana.haase@nabholz.com anytime.
